Scheduling options for golf's major championships and PGA Tour and European Tour events are expected to gain clarity once the R&A, which runs The Open, makes a decision on postponing or cancelling the event.

The event, originally slated for early June, is the third women's golf major tournament to be rescheduled.

The US Women's Open has been postponed until December, the United States Golf Association has announced.

Champion Golfer of the Year Shane Lowry would welcome the opportunity to defend The Open later in the season, should the event need to be rescheduled.

The Masters could be played in November and The Open a week before the Ryder Cup as part of a revised golfing calendar for the 2020 season, according to reports in America.
